Fire at Wrightstown home is an arson, suspect caught on video
WRIGHTSTOWN, WI — A suspicious fire at a Wrightstown home is now considered a case of arson and video shows a person of interest running from the scene. The Brown County Arson Task Force confirms that the May 18 fire at 333 Main Street was set intentionally. A father and a young child living at the home escaped without injuries. Sturgeon Bay fender bender stretches three cars
A De Pere man complained of neck pain but did not need to go to the hospital after being in the middle of a three-car accident Thursday afternoon in Sturgeon Bay. The accident occurred at 3:10 p.m. near State Highway 42/57 and Duluth Avenue. The De Pere man was behind a Charter Communications work truck at the stop light when he was struck from behind by a Sturgeon Bay man in a pick-up truck. This started a chain reaction that pushed the De Pere man’s car into the work truck before him. According to the accident report, the pick-up truck driver told deputies on the scene that he was trying to merge on the highway at the last minute and could not avoid the accident. He was cited for inattentive driving. One traffic lane was closed for about 25 minutes to address the accident, causing a backup on STH 42/57.
Green Bay reaches Illegal City Hall recordings settlement
GREEN BAY, WI — The City of Green Bay will pay $200,000 to settle the case of illegal recordings at City Hall. The settlement agreement is announced in a news release from State Senator Devin LeMahieu’s office. According to the statement, the $200,000 will cover legal fees brought by plaintiffs in the case. The City of Green Bay issues a statement regarding the settlement. It says (quote) “The City Council has barred the Office of the Mayor from unilaterally implementing a policy of undisclosed audio-and-video surveillance of City Hall. Mayor Genrich and the City Council as presently constituted agree not to renew the prior surveillance policy. Mayor Genrich further agrees that any audio/video surveillance policy that he might in the future propose would require approval from the City Council to take effect.” (unquote). The city reached a separate 100-thousand dollar settlement with another plaintiff in this case. Mayor Genrich initially stated the recording system was put in place as a security precaution. The news release from Senator LeMahieu says in all the case has cost the City of Green Bay over $500,000.
