(THE BRONX, N.Y.) A 45-year-old man was pushed onto subway tracks in the Bronx on Wednesday, according to the New York Post.

The man was waiting for a southbound 1 train at the 231st Street station in Kingsbridge at around 7:30 a.m. when the assailant approached him from behind and shoved him onto the tracks unexpectedly, police said.

He was rushed to North Central Bronx Hospital with a broken leg, according to the New York City Police Department.

The suspect was described to be in his mid-30s and was last seen wearing all black as he fled from the subway station.

The victim was not hit by a train while on the tracks and it was not clear if there was one near the station when the incident occurred.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org or by messaging on Twitter @NYPDTips. All calls are kept confidential.
