(OAKLAND, Calif.) Oakland police have identified the tow truck driver fatally shot Monday night as 43-year-old Tim Nielson of Auburn, East Bay Times reports.

Police discovered Nielson shot to death inside of his tow truck at approximately 4:13 a.m. in the 1800 block of East 12th Street.

Nielsen was out on a repossession assignment but it is unclear whether Nielson was shot while attempting to complete the repossession or for an unrelated reason.

Police say they believe Nielson was shot several blocks away from where he crashed but the gunshot wound he sustained wasn’t discovered until his body was transported to the coroner’s office.

However, investigators are unclear as to where exactly Nielson was shot. No arrests have been made and there are no known suspects.

A GoFundMe account was launched by Nielson’s employer, Rio Linda Co., to help his family, which has raised $16,610 towards the $25,000 goal,

One of Nielson’s coworkers told the East Bay Times that he was “an amazing man, father, partner and human being,” adding that he was “very diligent in his work, polite to a fault.”

A $10,000 reward is being offered for any additional information leading to the arrest of the shooter.

Information can be submitted by contacting the Oakland Police Department at 510-238-3821 or 510-238-7950 or by calling Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
