HOUSTON, TX — Lopez Negrete Communications, the country's biggest independently owned and operated Hispanic marketing agency, has been given two of the country's most distinguished public relations honors: a Bronze Anvil in the Creative Tactics category and a Silver Anvil in the Content Marketing for Government category, thanks to their "YES! to Census 2020" murals and campaign produced for the City of Houston, as well as Harris County.

Of the hundreds of candidates who submitted their project for a Silver Anvil, only 148 organizations were chosen as finalists, with the "YES! to Census 2020" campaign winning the Silver Anvil Award of Excellence. The campaign was created to promote Census participation from traditionally unserved communities by gathering trusted third-party endorsements through a mixture of communication channels, such as social media, trusted voices, news, hyperlocal influencers, and elected officials, as well as a community-inspired endeavor that produces branded murals all over the city in undercounted neighborhoods.

The Bronze Anvil honors the very best public relations strategies performed each year and chose Lopez Negrete's "YES! to Census 2020" campaign as the winner of the Creative Tactics category.

This year's competition has a total of 358 candidates. Out of those candidates, only 33 organizations were picked as Bronze Anvil winners. The series of exhilarating, colorful, "YES! to Census 2020" multicultural murals were strategically placed in Houston areas with low Census participation.

Lopez Negrete Communications joined forces with these local agencies to design and supervise a strategic plan to improve Census response:

UP Art Studio – Artist and Design Brokers

January Advisors – Data Science and Research

The Black Sheep Agency – Logo Design

The agencies that helped Lopez Negrete Communication also earned their first annual PRSA Audience Choice Award in the Silver Anvil category. The full list of winners can be found by clicking this link https://www.prsa.org/conferences-and-awards/awards/silver-anvil-awards.

"Honored, humbled and beyond thrilled to be recognized by the Public Relations Society of America for creating and curating the City of Houston and Harris County's Census outreach efforts," said Lopez Negrete Communications Co-Founder, CEO and President, Alex López Negrete. "Census response affects all of us by determining funding for many services we take for granted. While the positive impact we had on the city we call home is reward enough, winning the Bronze and Silver Anvil awards reinforces our founding principle of being a voice and positive influence on the diverse and vibrant communities we serve."
