These six adoptable cats are asking for you by name

Are you ready for some cats? We're kicking off this week with a special senior duo that will warm your heart. All of these cats are ready to adopt right now from local Kansas City shelters. So let's get going.

    Blue and Tucker

Blue and Tucker are a couple of oldies but goodies. Blue, a 13-year-old girl, is above. Here is Tucker, a 15-year-old boy:

Unfortunately, they had to be given up to The Animal Rescue Alliance because their mom's health required her to move where pets aren't allowed. That's unfortunate on many levels, but it leaves the two cats looking for a new place to live.

If nothing else, they still have each other, and thankfully places like The Animal Rescue Alliance are around to help them find a new home. They are, of course, a bonded pair, so you've got to take both. You'll definitely want both though--they are the friendliest pair you'd ever meet. Blue will be your shadow, following you around wherever you go. She's also the playful one. Tucker is a lap cat and might be just a tad shy at first but warms up to people fast. You can learn more about Tucker here and Blue here.

    Stormy

Stormy, from Cats Pawjamas, will be your best friend no matter what the weather is like. She's still just a kitten so she's got all that kitten thunder and lightning inside her. She's also an affectionate girl, and in her foster home is known to sleep on the chest of her foster parents. Fair warning though--she is also in the habit of nudging (or nibbling) them awake when breakfast is late.

Stormy would be good with just about any kind of family, whether you've got lots of kids or no kids at all. She would request a home with other cats though to romp around with. That way you won't be entirely responsible for kitten-energy-expenditure duties.

You can learn more about Stormy here.

    Berkshire Hathaway

The Oracle of Omaha must be in charge of naming the cats at Meowy Matchmakers because they got an adorable calico named Berkshire Hathaway. Each patch of color is a different subsidiary.

Berky, for short, is a teen mama. She's only nine months old but already had a litter of three, all have since been adopted. A young empty nester, Berky is just now rediscovering the joys of toys and is a playful girl. She loves the people in her life, running up to them when they call her name. She's also a big birdwatcher and although she can't identify the local fawna by name, she enjoys imagining what they'd taste like.

You can learn more about this girl here, and if you adopt little Berkshire Hathaway, could you ask her to open up more Dairy Queens in KC?

    Buzz

Buzz was found out in the wilds of Parkville with his friend Woody (I see a Toy Story theme here) and brought into the shelter. Buzz and Woody were adopted but unfortunately Buzz's family had to bring him back because of his owner's failing health, much like Blue and Tucker. Let that be a reminder that if you're older or not so healthy, it is always a good idea to sweet talk someone into taking your pets if you have to give them up.

Buzz is a socialite who loves people, and like Berkshire, is a birdwatcher. A beautiful, big black cat, he's going to turn five-years-old in just a few weeks. Wouldn't a new home make the ideal birthday gift? If you want to learn more about Buzz, you can fill out a pre-adoption application here. There's no obligation in doing so.

    Gail

Last but not least is Gail, the tabby with the enormous eyes. Gail had a rough start and came to shelter with a broken jaw and pelvis. The poor thing is all healed up now and is ready to take on the world--your world.

Gail's past trauma didn't break her spirit. She's a happy cat that loves her people and will be your best friend if you scratch her ears. If you want a cat that will return every bit of love you give her, give Gail a chance. You can learn more about her here.

That's all for this week. Want to look at more cats? Check out my profile here. Many of the cats featured on past posts are still available!
