    Growing up, we have always associated history with boredom and some events that occurred in the past.

    But what if we told you there is a museum all about ice cream? Or, better, a museum that lets you walk around the places where immigrant families lived back in 1863? Well, living in New York, you should always expect the unexpected!

    Here are the 5 fun museums in New York City that you must visit!

    Merchant’s House Museum

    Take a step back into history to relive the time when New York was gradually changing into a metropolis from a mercantile seaport.

    The Merchant’s House is a nineteenth-century home that belonged to the Tredwell family. It is present on 29 East Fourth Street, which is between Lafayette Street and Bowery, Manhattan. This peculiar house depicting the old American lifestyle become a museum back in 1936.

    Since then, New York City has taken possession of the property and classifies it as a historic house museum landmark. The place features a huge collection of items from the past, including 1835 -1933 clothing, books, photos, and whatnot.

    On the main floor, you can find possessions of the Tredwell family. Meanwhile, the fourth floor is the servant’s quarter that belonged to an Irish family serving the Tredwells.

    The Skyscraper Museum

    The Skyscraper Museum, located in Lower Manhattan’s Battery Park City, features an exotic collection of architectural heritage. It showcases celebrated tall buildings as well as the works of famous experts in the industry.

    Founded in 1996, the Skyscraper Museum is a great place to examine the architectural products of creativity and technology. You can explore the different techniques and methods used by the experts.

    There are two different exhibition places, with one displaying a permanent exhibition and the other temporary one. You will also find a bookstore with the office above the mezzanine.

    Museum of Ice Cream

    The museum also serves ice-cream tastings throughout the visit. You can select from the seven original MOIC flavors. Some of the popular choices include Peanut Butter with salted pretzels, Tropical Mango with sweet raspberry, and Dark Chocolate-Vanilla with crushed chocolate-covered cone.

    MOIC has several installations and smaller outlets in different cities. However, the main headquarters is present at 558 Broadway.

    Tenement Museum

    Have you ever puzzled over what it feels like to migrate and settle in a completely different country? Well, the Tenement Museum sheds light on a very unique and intriguing aspect of the United States.

    The museum, also called Lower East Side Tenement Museum, is present at 97 and 103 Orchard Street in Manhattan. It is a national historic site that depicts the struggles and stories of the immigrants.

    Approximately 15000 people from 20 different nations inhabited the Tenement building from 1863 to 1930. Later, Ruth Abram and Anita Jacobson transformed it into a museum in 1988.

    The Tenement museum features complete, settled houses of all the immigrant families that lived there. You can walk around the rooms and explore all the antique possessions displayed. It is an amazing place to understand the history and gain an insight into immigrants’ lifestyles.

    The American Numismatic Society

    The American Numismatic Society is a museum dedicated to coins, medals, currencies, and similar unique objects. Founded in 1858, the American Numismatic Society celebrates and appreciates such valuable artifacts.

    You can find a massive collection of over 800,000 items from 2000 BCE till the present. There is also a numismatic library that houses more than 100,000 antique documents and books. Many people visit the museum to find authentic resources supporting their publications and works. It is present at 75 Varick Street in Lower Manhattan.
