    What to know about the NYC Cannabis Parade and Rally

    NEW YORK (PIX11) – Marijuana enthusiasts will parade down Broadway on Saturday to celebrate the annual NYC Cannabis Parade and Rally.

    The parade and rally is one of the longest-running marijuana legalization events in the world, organizers said. It started as a “smoke-in” at Washington Square Park in 1973, according to the parade’s website .

    A street fair and after-party will also be held along with the parade and rally. Here’s what you need to know:

    Parade

    The parade will assemble at 11 a.m. on Saturday on the east side of Broadway between 32nd and 33rd streets. Then, paradegoers will take to marching down Broadway at noon.

    The parade route is southbound on Broadway from 32nd Street to Union Square Park at 14th Street.

    Rally and street fair

    The rally, featuring leaders in the marijuana industry, elected officials and performers like Havoc from Mobb Deep and Raul Midón, will be held in Union Square Park’s South Plaza between 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. A street fair with the parade’s sponsors and drug reform organizations will be set up across from the stage.

    After-party

    The after-party will be held at THC NYC at 427 Broadway from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets must be purchased to attend the party, which will have food, mocktails by HighGarden, music and more.

    Street closures

    Here’s what streets will be closed during the parade, according to the Department of Transportation.

    • Broadway between West 33rd Street and 32nd Street
    • Broadway between West 33rd Street and West 26th Street
    • West 26th Street between Broadway and 5th Avenue
    • Broadway between West 26th Street and East 18th Street
    • East 18th Street between Broadway and Park Avenue South
    • Park Avenue South between East 18th Street and East 17th Street (Southbound lane on Park Avenue South only)
    • Union Square East between East 17th Street and East 14th Street (Southbound lanes of Union Square West only)
    • East 14th Street between Union Square East and 5th Avenue
    • East 18th Street Broadway and Park Avenue South
