The Issue: Manhattan’s controversial congestion pricing program, set to take effect June 30.

Congestion pricing is another way to kill businesses in our city and put a financial burden on those that commute to work ( “Railing no fare at MTA,” May 1).

I am sick of this administration taking and taking while giving nothing in return.

Mayor Adams has once again proven what a worthless leader he really is. Gov. Hochul disgraces the office.

So you want to eliminate all the adverse effects of congestion pricing — but preserve its benefits?

Put congestion pricing where it belongs, where every New Yorker will accept it without hesitation: on our bridges and tunnels.

UFT lawyers blast MTA’s decision with setting June 30 start date for NYC’s controversial $15 congestion toll

The key is modestly tolling the free East and Harlem River bridges while revising the tolls on the rest of the region’s bridges and tunnels.

This way we could avoid disruption to neighborhoods above 60th Street and end circuitous travel to avoid tolls.

Regional congestion pricing implemented exclusively on our bridges and tunnels is the answer.

Even with congestion pricing starting on June 30, there is no way the MTA will be able to advertise, award and issue a notice to proceed to contractors representing $15 billion — the amount the program is supposed to raise — worth of projects within the following six months.

There may not be enough resources to integrate the implementation of $15 billion. Billions of capital-improvement projects could be delayed. Costs will increase due to inflation and other factors as time goes by. MTA board members and elected officials need to recognize this.

If the police think they have their hands full now trying to catch toll evaders who cover or deface their license plates, just wait until congestion pricing goes into effect.

This problem could multiply tenfold given the volume of cars and trucks coming into the city below 60th Street every day.

The Issue: Judge Juan Merchan fining ex-President Donald Trump $9,000 for violating a gag order.

A $9,000 fine for breaching a gag order could only happen to former President Donald Trump ( “$9K the new ‘hush’ money,” May 1).

Democrats are hellbent on breaking down Trump emotionally and monetarily. My belief is that they are trying to cause Trump to have a heart attack or stroke — all to keep him off the ballot. After all, Trump is only human.

If Trump does pay the fine, let’s hope that this sham of a trial is either eventually dismissed or overturned so that he can get his money back.

Taking away Trump’s free speech is only the beginning of what will happen to the rest of us if Trump is not elected in November.

When it comes to Donald Trump’s $9,000 fine for contempt, I’m glad Judge Juan Merchan has imposed a penalty.

But let’s get serious: Comparing Donald Trump’s bank account to mine, this is like imposing a fine of nine cents on a middle-class person.
