This Midtown East restaurant is bright and airy, but the Japanese curry they make is thick, dark and sweet. It's made from scratch, slow-simmered, and served with rice and salad, or udon, as well as toppings like pork or chicken katsu. They also have a sushi menu with rolls and bowls, but your focus should be on the deeply beefy curry, in any form you prefer. Each bite takes you on a trip from sweet to bitter to spicy, and it's so orange with turmeric, it's almost brown. If you're wearing a white shirt, beware.

    Yaki Curry

The yaki curry is a fantastic mix of curry, ground beef, and rice served under a layer of charred, melted cheese. It could fight winter and win. https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0BVSc3_0skXUFWR00

    Yaki Udon

The curry sticks to the slippery yaki-udon like a toddler to its parent’s pant leg. It's a perfect lunch with very high stain hazard potential. https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0YWbqX_0skXUFWR00

    Temaki

For $16, you'll get three hand rolls: one with king salmon, one with fatty tuna, and one with spicy tuna. There's nothing wrong with these, but they don't mesh super well with the rich curry, which is what you should be prioritizing here.
