UPDATE, 5/20/24, 11:30 a.m.: New Iberia Police have identified a suspect in the shooting. Detectives have obtained warrants for 28-year-old Trevonta Johnlouis on the charges of second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police said they were notified of an individual with a gunshot wound at Iberia Medical Center. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, officers were notified the 43-year-old male victim had succumbed to his injuries. The incident occurred on Fontelieu Drive near the intersection of Mink Street, according to police.

ORIGINAL STORY: NEW IBERIA, La. ( KLFY )– The New Iberia Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that took place Saturday.

Officers are currently working on this homicide investigation. The identities of the victims and suspects have yet to be disclosed.
