3 ex-employees of N.J. law school admit stealing $1.3M from university
Three former employees of Seton Hall Law School have pleaded guilty to a $1.3 million scheme to defraud the university, authorities said. The trio admitted to a wide-ranging scam that included asking vendors to pay them directly, purchasing hundreds of thousands dollars worth of gift cards and forming a shell company to bill the university for services never rendered, U.S. District Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced Friday.

Linden, NJ - Linden Public Schools Summer Middle School STEM Camp concluded its thrilling two-week journey today with an exciting field trip to Merck Headquarters! Superintendent Atiya Cunningham-Perkins visited the camp to meet our enthusiastic 5th to 8th graders and will join them at Merck. The School District’s HVAC Project Met with Supply Delays
NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ – Delays in supply deliveries have upended the district’s plan to complete the much-waited for and referendum-funded districtwide HVAC upgrade project this summer. Business Administrator James Testa gave the project update at the Thursday, July 25 Board of Education (BOE) meeting. Testa explained that he attends construction meetings with architects, engineers, contractors, and project foremen every two weeks. The latest meeting was on July 24. Westfield Coach Named 2024 NJ Boys’ High School Track & Field Coach of the Year
WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield High School track and field/cross country coach Christopher Tafelski has received national recognition for a second time for his leadership and performance during the 2023-2024 school year, Westfield Public Schools announced Wednesday. Tafelski has been selected by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as the 2024 Boys’ High School Track and Field Coach of the Year for the state of New Jersey. ALJ High School Teacher Fredy Reyes Attends Holocaust Conference in Berlin
Clark, NJ — Noted German playwright Frank Wedekind once said, “Monuments are for the living, not the dead.” Arthur L. Johnson (ALJ) High School social studies teacher Fredy Reyes spent a week in and around Berlin visiting many such monuments. Reyes attended a week-long program studying the Holocaust and the Cold War. The trip was run by Centropa, a nonprofit organization that strives to educate teachers from Israel, Europe, and the United States about European history, especially the Holocaust. TCMS collecting school supplies for kids
TIPP CITY — Tipp Monroe Community Services is collecting school supplies for children in Tipp City and Monroe Township from July 1 through Aug. 1. Book bags and school supplies are given out during the last two weeks of the Lunch On Us summer lunch program, said a Tipp Monroe Community Services. Several blue donation tubs are around Tipp City, including the TMCS office, Monroe Federal at both branches, Tipp City Public Library, and Zack Jacobs-State Farm Insurance. All donations are greatly appreciated.
Adele DeLeeuw Scholarships Awarded to North Plainfield and Watchung Hills Students
SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ --Three students from North Plainfield and Watchung Hills high schools received new and continuing scholarships from the Adele DeLeeuw Scholarship Fund. The scholarships are financed by a bequest from Adele DeLeeuw, longtime Plainfield resident, author of 75 books, journalist and arts activist. The Rotary Club of the Plainfields (Plainfield, North Plainfield and South Plainfield) administers the Adele DeLeeuw Scholarship Fund and is one of four Rotary clubs (including the Warren-Watchung Rotary) that provide scholarships from the Fund to students in their communities who pursue a course of study in poetry, art, journalism, writing or engineering. Elizabeth Students Use Dance To Explore Mental Health
ELIZABETH, NJ - Elizabeth middle school students participated in a customized workshop earlier this month where they used dance and art to explore mental health and disabilities. Project BrOKen’s Healing Stage Workshops, created by Union County resident María Daniel, incorporate dance, movement, improvisation, music, props, and expressive art experiences.
