APPLETON - Construction has begun on a new Pizza Hut at 3865 E. Calumet St. In September 2022, the City of Appleton issued a site plan approval for the location, which will be the third in Appleton. The chain pizza restaurant will be drive-thru, pick-up and delivery only with no space for dine-in seating. There will be six seats available for customers to wait for orders.
Oshkosh school teacher accused of using racial slur placed on leave
OSHKOSH ― A teacher at Vel Phillips Middle School has been placed on leave after being accused of using a racial slur Tuesday. In a letter obtained by the Northwestern and verified by Oshkosh Area School District Communication Director Katie Nieman, Vel Phillips Middle School Principal Kristi Levy notified parents of children in the affected classroom of the allegations.

Mile of Music announces the first 50 artists coming to the 11th annual event
APPLETON - On the 100-day countdown mark to the 11th Mile of Music event, festival organizers announced the first 50 artists on this year's lineup. This year, Mile of Music will be from August 1-4 along College Avenue between the Lawrence Memorial Chapel and Spat's. The 2024 event will feature over 200 musical acts, 40 host venues and stages and 700 live music sets and pop-up performances.
