Another round of active weather this afternoon leading to hit-or-miss showers east of the Cascades
The upper low stalls offshore of the mouth of the Columbia through Thursday with an even stronger chance of thunderstorms for all of Eastern Washington tomorrow. Instability is still very weak, but enough to trigger more storms than Wednesday. The best area with a chance of thunderstorms will be along the north edge of the Simcoe Highlands. Highs will be near the same with isolated thunderstorms becoming more widespread east of the Cascades after 1 p.m. Thursday night this upper low will deepen to Northern California and high pressure will fill in behind it from the north and northwest. This will bring more stability to the forecast area Friday morning.
SFD’s first ladder truck now in service
SELAH, Wash.-The Selah Fire Department is taking fighting fires to new heights. A new firetruck will allow crews to attack flames from 78-feet in the air. The city’s first ever ladder truck has been built, tested, delivered and now, pushed in to mark the start of its service. It’s a firefighter tradition from the 1800s, according to SFD Deputy Chief Scott Willis.

YAKIMA, Wash. — A fraud investigation by the Washington State Auditor’s Office found thousands of dollars in taxpayer funds paid to Yakima County special purpose districts were misused between January 2019 and June 2023.
