Emergency crews investigate possible gas leak along Highway 17 Bypass

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Horry County and Myrtle Beach fire crews have cleared the scene after a gas leak was reported late Thursday morning in the area along Frontage Road and Highway 17 Bypass near Window World.

Numerous Horry County Fire Rescue and Myrtle Beach Fire Department vehicles and ambulances began arriving in the area at about 11:15 a.m. The crews left the area just before noon.

An Horry County Fire Rescue spokesman said crews did not find a dangerous leak and that it’s possible the odor could be the result of a sewage problem.
