Woodstock aims to keep Rome winless
Last Friday might, Woodstock played its closest game of the year since the season opener. It didn’t go the Wolverines’ way, though, as they fell 13-10 to Cherokee County and Region 6AAAAAA rival Creekview. Despite the result, first-year coach Justin Pearce saw the effort he was looking for to start the second half of 2026. ‘We have to play at one play at a time, and that’s what our guys did,” Pearce said. “We told them to get up and make them earn it, and defensively, we did that. We kind of limited some of the big plays that we have been giving up and we made them continue to drive. I couldn’t ask for better effort, right? Those dudes played as hard as they possibly could and gave us a chance.” It was the best defensive performance of the year for Woodstock (1-5, 0-3), which is the No. 48-ranked team in the GHSA’s latest PSR report. The Wolverines have a chance to improve that ranking this Friday night as they square off with a struggling Rome (0-6, 0-3) team that holds the No. 47 spot. Like Woodstock, Rome has a much younger roster than in years past, along with

Big first quarter leads Dalton past Allatoona
ACWORTH -- Allatoona never recovered from Dalton’s blazing first quarter start, as the Catamounts cruised to an easy 49-7 victory over the Buccaneers at Cobb EMC/Buccaneer Stadium on Friday night. Dalton (5-1, 1-1 7AAAAA) set the tone for the game as Kamdon London returned the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown to give the Catamounts a quick 7-0 lead. “It’s obviously a tough thing to overcome to when momentum hits you that hard and that fast,” Allatoona coach Paul Carter said. “We have I think guys in the right places to make the plays, they just got to make the plays and at times we didn’t do that.” Dalton was just getting started. They scored three more times in the first quarter, jumping out to a 28-0 first quarter lead. Receiving the ball at the Buccaneers’ 46-yard line on their opening possession after the defense forced a three-and-out, the Catamounts quickly took advantage of the field position. Runs of 27 and 18 by Bronx Stallion and DeMari Mason respectively brought Dalton to the 1. Quarterback Caine Woods punched it in on the next play to increase the Catamounts’ lead to 14-0. On the following two possessions, Dalton increased their

Wheeler unable to stop Etowah, bruising back Caesar
WOODSTOCK -- It was a happy homecoming for Etowah as it outscored Wheeler 41-14 at Eagle Mountain. Junior running back Kingston Caesar led the Eagles' offense as he rumbled for a game-high 233 yards on just nine carries and touchdown runs of 42, 56 and 63 yards. The Etowah defense was equally as defiant as Wheeler (0-5, 0-2 Region 5AAAAAAA) could only generate a total of 14 rushing yards on the night. It did not take long for Etowah (5-1, 3-0) to take the lead and keep it. On the game’s opening kickoff, Walker Hughes took the ball and returned it 95 yards for an immediate touchdown. It was Hughes’ third kickoff return for a touchdown this season and gave the Eagles a 7-0 lead with 11:51 left in the first quarter. Still, it took a few possessions for Etowah to get on point as its second and third possessions were squandered by a lost fumble, a holding penalty and an untimely sack. Those early miscues gave Wheeler a chance. On the Wildcats' third possession, quarterback Patrick McCollough engineered a 10-play drive, capped by a 17-yard scoring toss to receiver Matthew Morris. However, an unsuccessful run on the 2-point conversion

KIPP pulls away from NCC
KENNESAW — North Cobb Christian found itself in the position it wanted Friday night. Then the mistakes began to pile up. Turnovers and missed opportunities plagued the Eagles as KIPP Atlanta Collegiate erased an early deficit and rolled to a 48-17 victory. North Cobb Christian held a 14-6 advantage after quarterback Jayden McCullough scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter, but KIPP responded by outscoring the Eagles 42-3 the rest of the way. “I think they just attacked and we didn't protect,” North Cobb Christian coach PJ Hughes said. “Just made a couple plays where we weren't very secure with the ball. We gotta practice ball security better.” North Cobb Christian (3-2) was playing for the first time in three weeks after its Sept. 11 loss to Wesleyan. KIPP (5-1) entered having won four of its first five games, including shutouts in each victory. The Eagles' problems began early. Oakleen Padgett lost a fumble with about five minutes remaining in the first quarter, and KIPP capitalized to cut North Cobb Christian's lead to 7-6. “We were right where we wanted to be, and then we started making mistakes,” Hughes said. “I wouldn't say that it was rust, but
