PLAINFIELD, NJ — On Saturday, June 1, the Plainfield Public Schools opened the month with an inaugural event at Plainfield High School—Mental Health Matters and Cardinal Day. This event, designed to celebrate community engagement, welcomed over 500 families and community members. Mental Health Matters and Cardinal Day provided an opportunity for Plainfield residents to discover more about Plainfield Public Schools and the offerings available within the district. Chatham's Torch Run to Include Every School in Chatham for the 1st Time with the Addition of the Chatham Middle School, Milton
CHATHAM, NJ -- For the first time, the annual Chatham Torch Run will pass by every school in Chatham with the addition of the Chatham Middle School and Milton Avenue School for the Friday, June 7th run that benefits New Jersey Special Olympics. The run will kick off 9:30 a.m. at the Southern Boulevard School and the runners will traverse a 5.24-mile route that will take them past Chatham High, Lafayette, Washington, ECLC, Milton, and CMS before concluding back at CHS. Still Time to Register for Immaculate Heart of Mary Summer Academy
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- There is still time to register for Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM)'s Summer Academy for children and youths in grades preschool four through eight. This formational program will provide young people with the opportunity to learn about their faith through lessons, art, music and experiences of prayer. The session will run from Sunday, June 23 until Tuesday, July 2 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, at 1571 Martine Ave., Scotch Plains. It will consist of two Sunday sessions (6/23 and 6/30) for parents and children running 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., and seven weekday sessions which will gather from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (6/24-28 and 7/1-2). NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ -- Seven Class of 2024 student-athletes signed there college letters of intent at a ceremony at New Providence High School on Thursday night. Friday June 7 is Last Day to Apply for Cook School STEM Program
PLAINFIELD, NJ — Those interested in having their children attend the Cook School Stem Program will have until Friday, June 7 to submit an application at plainfieldnjk12.org. The deadline was previously May 31, but was extended one more week. The reimagined Cook School will have 120 seats for students grades 1-5. While students living in the Cook School zone will have first priority, the program will be open to all students in Plainfield—though transportation will not be provided for students. Senior Bella Scipioni picked the right time to pitch one of her finest, if not finest, games of the season when the sixth-seeded Westfield High School softball team traveled to Scotch Plains to play the third-seeded Raiders in the quarterfinal round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 Tournament on May 28. Blue Devil senior Jack Chavez and Stateliner Jared Diefenbach were engaged in a tight pitchers’ duel when the fourth-seeded Westfield High School baseball team hosted fifthseeded Phillipsburg in the quarterfinal round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 playoffs at Bob Brewster, Sr. Field in Westfield on May 29. But in the end, it was a key RBI double off the bat of Kellen Edwards that earned the 19-6 Blue Devils a 2-1 victory over the 17-9 Stateliners.
