Westfield Firefighters Extinguish Jeep Fire Near Home Tuesday
WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield firefighters extinguished a single-vehicle fire near a residence Tuesday around 7:34 a.m., according to the fire department. Fire Chief Michael Duelks said that firefighters were called to the 700 block of Lawrence Avenue in response to a Jeep on fire. The vehicle, which was not occupied, was parked at the home on Lawrence Avenue, he said. Photos taken by the fire department show flames rising from the front of the vehicle. “Upon arrival, crews quickly deployed an attack line for extinguishment of the fire. The fire was contained to the vehicle, without any extension to the structure,” Duelks said. Despite the significant damage to the Jeep, there was no other damage and no one was hurt, he said. The cause of the fire was not yet known as of Tuesday evening, but Duelks said it did not appear to be suspicious in nature.
