Maryland Baseball recap: Terps miss Big Ten Tournament and likely NCAA tourney after sweep to Penn State
A hopeful final regular-season series ended with the worst possible outcome for the Maryland baseball team. The Terps (34-22, 10-14 Big Ten) were swept at home by Penn State, 8-4 on Thursday and 6-5 (10 innings) and 19-7 in Friday's doubleheader. To make the eight-team Big Ten Tournament, the Terps either needed a sweep of Penn State or a series win as long as both Michigan State and Ohio State did not sweep their respective series; the Spartans lost two of three to Nebraska and the Buckeyes won two of three at Rutgers.
