Is Hamilton County blue now? Here's what voter data and maps show

A new political era may have begun for Democrats in Hamilton County – one where many of their candidates win. For years, Indiana's wealthiest county has been trending to the left and Democrats have won a few seats here and there. But much like the rest of the country, Hamilton County was hit by a blue tsunami on election night. Republicans and Democrats have reached different conclusions on what the results mean going forward, while voter data and race outcomes from this year's election signify a significant shift in Democrats' favor in the county. Five Statehouse seats in the county flipped from Republican to Democratic, and Democrats captured county-wide offices for the first time in what's believed to be around 70 years. The small Mississinewa Community School district’s ballot measure to increase property taxes lost by just 71 votes. So starting Monday, the district will cut one of its two school resource officers — and Superintendent Jeremy Fewell expects the cuts to continue from there. “We need to use as much money as we can to just keep our facilities up to par for the time being,” he said. “There’s no reason to wait going forward. We know these cuts have to happen, so why delay the inevitable at this point in time?” The district is one of 12 that failed to pass their referendums for more funding in Tuesday’s election, according to unofficial results.
