Search of Vandergrift home results in 2 arrests, police say narcotics recovered
A pair of Vandergrift residents face several drug charges after borough police and Westmoreland County detectives raided their Delaware Avenue home early Thursday. Kaeona Booker, 26, and Eugene Iagnemma, 54, were taken into custody after law enforcement executed a search warrant and seized “several items related to drug activity,” according to the police report.
2 suffer minor injuries when Ligonier Valley bus hits car
Two girls sustained minor injuries Friday afternoon when a Ligonier Valley school bus collided with the rear of their car along Route 711 north of Ligonier, police said. None of the 26 students on the school bus were hurt as a result of the accident that occurred about 3:10 p.m. at the intersection of Muir Road.
Family: Missing Youngstown teen may be in western Pennsylvania
A Westmoreland County family is asking for help in finding their 15-year-old son. Police in Youngstown, Ohio, said on Wednesday that Christopher Gyke was last seen leaving a residential facility. A parent of Christopher’s told WTAE that he was last seen on Sunday and that he may be headed to Lower Burrell.

Greensburg to outfit its police with body cameras
Greensburg council this week approved buying body cameras for its police force. It also will be developing a policy for how they will be used. When the city receives the cameras, the police department will work with Motorola to install them and expand the computer server that holds police vehicle dashboard camera footage, said Chief Chuck Irvin.

Financial issues cited in pending closure of Latrobe personal care home
More than two dozen residents of a Latrobe personal care home will need to find other accommodations before July 8. Latrobe Manor administrator Kim Cecere said this week the home is working with families of its residents to find other placements for them. Up next on Wednesday, the Wildcats had to deal with No. 3 West Allegheny, a team that was the only school in the classification to score over 200 runs. The Indians were held to only four runs in the quarterfinals as Latrobe pulled off its second eyebrow-raiser of the postseason, 5-4. The wins lifted the Wildcats over .500 at 11-10 overall.
Housing authority may expand parking with purchase of vacant Jeannette school property
A tentative agreement is in the works for the Westmoreland County Housing Authority to buy long-vacant property from Jeannette City School District for $28,000. Authority director Mike Washowich said he hopes the property can help expand parking for nearby Jeannette Manor residents and caregivers. But officials plan to examine the empty land further to see what options might be available.
