6 north central West Virginians finish the 2024 Boston Marathon

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Among the more than 30,000 runners who competed in the Boston Marathon on Monday were six people from north central West Virginia who completed the full 26.2 miles.

Twenty-seven West Virginians in total finished the race, including Rudean Reynolds, 63 of Bridgeport, and Kevin Trippett, 51 of Parkersburg, who each finished in the top 200 for their division.

The finishers from north central West Virginia are as follows:

In addition to finishing the race, Austin Thomas, who 12 News interviewed back in January because he was using the race as a fundraiser for the American Red Cross , met his goal of raising $10,000. According to the “Austin Run Boston” fundraising page, he raised a total of $10,581.

The overall winner of the marathon, Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia, finished with a time of 2:06:17, and Hellen Obiri, also of Ethiopia, was the first female finisher.

Although there are lots of marathons run across the U.S., Boston is considered one of the best. It is the world’s oldest annual marathon, and runners must to qualify to run it.
