West Virginia led all power four football teams in rushing in 2023. The Mountaineers were at 228.9 yards per contest, pacing ahead of all but three teams total nationally. The offense relied on a pair of talented running backs in Jahiem White and CJ Donaldson to go along with the dual-threat abilities of quarterback Garrett Greene to create opportunities on the ground.
Stripe the Stadium, Other Promotional Dates for 2024 West Virginia University Football Schedule Announced
The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has released its 2024 football home game promotional schedule for this fall at Milan Puskar Stadium. The highly anticipated Coal Rush game will be announced at a later date for one of the following home games; Kansas, Iowa State, Kansas State or Baylor. All fans in attendance will be encouraged to wear black to the game and join the Mountaineers as they debut the new black alternate uniform that pays homage to the state's rich coal tradition and honor miners who work underground daily to supply.

Watch Scoop Smith put on an absolute show at WVU Football camp
One of the first players that EerSports noticed among the crowd of roughly one hundred participants at WVU's final one-day camp of the summer was Woodland Hills (PA) athlete Scoop Smith. The 2026 prospect put up a 36" vertical jump and a 4.44 40-yard dash during testing, and then followed that by impressing in position drills and dominating in one-on-ones. 2027 guard Smith talks West Virginia offer
Lincolnton (N.C.) 2027 guard LJ Smith is just beginning to jump into the recruiting process but already holds a number of high level scholarship offers including West Virginia. Smith, 6-foot-4, 150-pounds, found out about the news that the Mountaineers were jumping into the mix after his head coach spoke with associate head coach Chester Frazier. “I was really excited because it’s a pretty big offer and they’re in the Big 12 Conference,” he said.
