From 1526 to 1918, the Czech Republic and Slovakia were considered part of the Habsburg Monarchy, which eventually became Austria-Hungary. When World War I ended and Austria-Hungary was no more, Czechs and Slovaks were free to form their own democratic nation of Czechoslovakia — and they did so in Pittsburgh.

Crash brings down power lines, shuts down part of McKnight Road
UPDATE 11:10 p.m. According to Duquesne Light Company, there are no longer power outages in Ross Township. UPDATE 7:20 p.m. - As of 7:20 p.m. Duquesne Light was showing 980 power outages in Ross Township. A portion of a busy Ross Township road is because of power lines across the roadway.

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) — A ticket worth over one million dollars was sold at a Sheetz in Pennsylvania Friday. In brief: Pedestrian safety on Beaver Street, summer reading and more in Sewickley area
Sewickley officials are working with Gateway Engineers to address pedestrian safety issues along Beaver Street. Council received reports of people being stuck by vehicles while in crosswalks at various intersections, including one of a woman who was struck in September and is still recovering. Council president Cynthia Mullins said they have “some good ideas and are getting good guidance” on how to address these issues. However, actual plans on how to improve the intersections have not yet been released.
