PITTSBURGH — The number of tornadoes in the Pittsburgh area this year has reached 14 — and it’s only May. That total tops the previous record of 11 May tornadoes set back in 1985. In fact, the total number of May tornadoes from 1995 through 2023 combined only adds up to 16. With the increasing amount, everyone may be wondering the same thing: Why are we seeing so many twisters?

Teen walks into Pittsburgh Children's with gunshot wound to hand
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police are investigating after a 16-year-old boy walked into Children's Hospital with a gunshot wound.
