Alabama Independent School Association baseball championships: Full list of winners

The Alabama Independent School Association baseball state championships wrapped up the Class A and Class AA series Tuesday in Montgomery.

Lee-Scott Academy and Glenwood will close out the postseason with the Class AAA championship schedule at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 8.

Here are the best moments from Tuesday’s slate of games:

Colton Sampson leads Lakeside to first Class AA title since 2019

Lakeside (25-23) senior Colton Sampson struck out 12 in a 10-0 victory that ended with the mercy rule in the sixth inning.

In game two, Lakeside trailed 8-2 but scored six runs in the fifth and sixth to sweep past Edgewood 14-9. Sampson struck out the final two batters of the game.

Lowndes Academy wins Class A championship

After an 11-7 game one victory over Wilcox Academy, senior Clayton Hussey allowed two hits in game two on the mound.

Across three sports, this was the fifth state championship for the Rebels over the last three years.

Lee-Scott vs Glenwood

Glenwood took down Lee-Scott 4-1 in game one of the Class AAA championship series. After the score was tied at 1 for a majority of the contest, Glenwood scored three runs in the sixth inning to take the lead.

Lee-Scott are walk-off winners in game two with a 5-4 victory to force a winner-take-all final game on Thursday, May 9.
