BOL Portal Nuggets (5/6): Intel on Alabama DB/OL targets

Alabama hosted multiple transfer portal targets this past weekend. The Crimson Tide recently added a DB commitment from the portal, and likely will see a few more announcements soon. A former Big 10 offensive lineman is also a major target for Alabama fans to watch this week.

BOL publisher Tim Watts and Senior Recruiting Editor Andrew Bone provide the very latest details on portal targets after a few weekend visitors.

•Alabama is on the verge of securing its second DB commitment of the week via the transfer portal with former Wake Forest CB DaShawn Jones predicted to the Tide. BOL provided a portal nugget (with predictions) on Sunday evening. Jones has been heavily pursued by others, but is not expected to take additional visits.

Jones would join former Charlotte S Kam Hayward who committed to the Crimson Tide on Tuesday. Jones has two years of eligibility left and Howard has three.

•Former Indiana CB Kobee Minor was previously scheduled to begin an official visit on Monday, but with the expected addition of (DaShawn) Jones those plans ave changed. Alabama is no longer expected host Minor for a visit.

ªFormer South Alabama LB Khalil Jacobs , as reported previously by BOL , did not visit this weekend. Jacobs says he will visit Alabama this upcoming weekend. It’s a situation to monitor closely as visit plans are subject to change with very few spots (3) remaining on the Tide’s roster.

•Former Penn State safety King Mack was also in Tuscaloosa this past weekend. Sources close to his recruitment believe Alabama is in good shape, but there are several other schools hoping for a visit. We are monitoring this situation closely but feel Alabama is in a great position after the visit.

•Another player we are watching closely is former Michigan State interior OL Geno VanDeMark . VanDeMark entered the transfer portal last week. He has kept things very quiet, but sources have confirmed high interest from both sides. He also was coached by first year Alabama OL coach Chris Kapoilovic .

There are others who have been in contact including Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Arkansas, South Carolina, Duke and Arizona State. BOL believes Alabama is also trending in the right direction.
