Booboo’s Buddies: Grand opening is Saturday for new Idaho Falls dog hotel that lets owners watch their canines on camera

IDAHO FALLS — A Nevada-based dog hotel is opening a new location in Idaho Falls, giving local dog owners a place to board their pets while they travel. Susan Olson, owner of Booboo’s Buddies, said the grand opening will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 1230 Skyline Drive. “Booboo’s Buddies is a pet hotel, daycare center and grooming center,” Olson said. “We opened in Carson City, Nevada, almost 10 years ago.” Olson said she and her husband moved to Swan Valley about four years ago, and she decided to open another Booboo’s Buddies location to serve her new community. “I love the people here,” Olson said. “I love the area I live in. The people here are more down-to-earth.” Olson said Booboo’s Buddies stands out from other pet hotels because it has cameras throughout the facility that let owners watch their pets while they’re away. “A lot of people love to see their dogs on the camera,” she said. Olson said she opened the original Nevada location because she didn’t see many kennels in the area with the cleanliness and transparency she wanted, and she hopes to bring that same standard to Idaho Falls. “I love

SU graduate and former Pebble Creek ski instructor publishes children’s book POCATELLO — A former Pebble Creek ski instructor and Idaho State University graduate has published a book to inspire young children to have the confidence to learn to ski. Josh Kent, the author of the book titled “Send It Sally Goes Skiing,” said in emails to the Idaho State Journal that he graduated from ISU back in 2005. He worked as a ski instructor for Pebble Creek during his years in college. “Those days at The Rock inspired me to write ‘Send It Sally Goes Skiing,’” Kent said in the emails. “Send It Sally Goes Skiing” is a rhyming book for children ages 2 to 10. It follows its title character, Sally, and her friends as they have fun skiing on the mountain. “It’s all about courage, confidence and having fun on snow,” Kent said in the emails. “I wrote it to inspire my niece to rip after teaching her three older brothers to charge.” Since the book has been published, it has made its way to the shelves of many ski lodges, including Pebble Creek, where it is on display for parents who want to sign their children

Five days of razor clam digs begin Saturday at Copalis and Mocrocks beaches. “Marine toxins continue to linger above the closure level for Long Beach and Twin Harbors, but thankfully the northern beaches of Copalis and Mocrocks remain low enough for harvest,” state Department of Fish and Wildlife coastal shellfish biologist Bryce Blumenthal said in a news release. “The first set of digs proved to be a challenge for those who made it out, and an increased swell forecast with less deep low tides will make digging even more difficult during this upcoming tide series.”

Local UTV Night Parade will Light Up the Night

A local UTV parade is getting ready to light up the night for its 15th year. The KRW TRAIL BLAZERS Christmas Nite Light Ride will start at OK Ward Ppark at 1400 West Quinn in Pocatello on Saturday, December 12. ATVs, side-by-sides, street motorcycles and vehicles are all invited to be a part of the ride, but you must decorate your ride with lights. The event starts at 2:00 p.m. and then the judging will begin at 5:00 when the vehicles are in line and lit. There will be prizes for best decorated ride and the most lights used. BLACKFOOT — Newly opened coffee shop Rustic Rock Coffee is inviting the community to its grand opening on Friday that will offer customers great deals on drinks and fun prizes. Heidi Robertson, owner of Rustic Rock Coffee, said the grand opening of the new Blackfoot location will be held Nov. 6 at 830 Jensen Grove Drive. A ribbon-cutting will be held at noon. “We are opening our second location,” Robertson said. “The first location is in Shelley.” Robertson said she opened the original location at 580 N. State St. in Shelley five years ago after quitting her job as an art teacher to pursue her dream of owning a coffee shop.
