Fatality Reported in DUI Car Crash on SR-49 in Calaveras County
An 18-year-old Angels Camp woman was arrested for DUI following a fatal car collision on Highway 49 in Calaveras County, according to the California Highway Patrol. The incident occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, March 26, 2023, at approximately 4:00 p.m. on State Route 49 just south of Deer Creek Road. The crash involved a 2017 Ford Escape SUV and a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck.
District: Threat made against Amador High by student from Argonaut High deemed non-credible
SUTTER CREEK – A threat made against Amador High School allegedly by a student from a different school has been found to be non-credible, authorities say. In a message to families, Amador County Unified School District Superintendent Torie F. Gibson revealed that officials learned of the threat Friday morning after a student reported it. Sutter Creek police were notified immediately and an investigation was started. Officials say they discovered that the threat was allegedly made by a student from Argonaut High School. Jackson police responded to Argonaut High and detained that student. Authorities say their joint investigation found that there was no credible threat to students or staff at either campus. Both Sutter Creek and Jackson police were out at the schools throughout the investigation and will stay on campus throughout the rest of the day.Exactly what was stated in the threat has not been disclosed.

March is going out like a lamb in northern California Friday with a lot of clouds but only a few showers. April will begin Saturday with more clouds, stronger breezes, and mostly high elevation rain and snow showers. Another trough of low pressure is sinking southward along the West Coast toward northern California, and that will mean another chance of rain and snow. This storm will not be as strong as previous storms, however. We can expect increasing clouds tonight with isolated rain and snow showers mainly over the foothills and mountains. Three Mother Lode Counties Added To Ongoing Storm Response And Recovery Efforts
Sonora, CA – Three Mother Lode counties have been added to the storm state of emergency requests for federal aid. Governor Gavin Newsom on Tuesday requested a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration to bolster the emergency response and recovery efforts for nine counties, including Calaveras, Mariposa and Tuolumne. The request encompasses the communities impacted by flooding, snow, mudslides, avalanches, and debris flows that resulted from storms beginning February 21. Calaveras County will be provided with all categories of public assistance, while Mariposa and Tuolumne counties will get individual assistance programs.
