Storm Tracker Forecast: Very warm Monday but big changes are ahead
It's another good dry to throw on light layers, grab your sunglasses and pack some extra water before you head out the door Monday. The strong ridge of high pressure that's dominated our weather pattern and left us with very warm and dry conditions for the last week is now off to our east, but will continue to dominate our weather pattern Monday. That will keep us dry and leave us with a very warm afternoon. Cooler systems off the coast are starting to drive some clouds over our region today, but we'll continue to stay dry. We've had mostly clear skies overnight, but thin clouds are starting to spread across our region this morning. Thin cloud cover will slowly increase across northern California Monday, but we're expected to stay dry. Temperatures are starting out in the 50's for most of the valley, but downslope north winds in Redding have left the Redding areas in the 60's to start the day. Foothill areas are mostly starting out in the 50's, and we're starting out in the 30's to 40's in our mountain zones. Winds are out of the north to 15mph, and gusts up to around 25mph are possible along I-5 in the valley early today. Winds will diminish heading into this afternoon. High temperatures are projected to climb into the mid 80's to around 90 degrees in the valley, and 70's to lower 80's in most foothill and mountain areas this afternoon.
