MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — Minot Police have a suspect in custody following an attempted robbery and physical assault in northwest Minot Sunday night.

According to police, officers responded to a robbery report in the 100 block of 8th Avenue Northwest around 9:00 p.m. When they arrived, the found the robbery victim, but the suspect had already fled.

Police said they were told the victim and the suspect knew each other. The suspect reportedly approached the victim, demanding the victim give back the suspect’s belongings. The victim denied having the belongings and the suspect then assaulted the victim, causing bodily injuries. The suspect then took property of the victim and fled.

According to police, the suspect was later located and arrested on a charge of Robbery, a Class B Felony. The suspect was taken to the Ward County Jail.

The victim refused transportation to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
