Mother fatally shot while inside car with child in Minneapolis identified

Authorities have identified the 35-year-old woman who died days after she and her young child were shot inside a vehicle in Minneapolis.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said Lilian Magali Poalacin Perez died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The shooting happened in an alleyway on the 2900 block of 18th Avenue South just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Perez died at Hennepin County Medical Center Wednesday morning, the Minneapolis Police Department said.

The two-year-old child was shot in the face but is expected to survive.

Authorities say a suspect appeared to have fired shots into the vehicle. No arrests have been made as of Friday.

An investigation remains ongoing as police are working to determine if this was a targeted shooting.
