Derek Chauvin , the former police officer found guilty of murdering George Floyd, is now facing new allegations that detail a striking resemblance to the tragic events that unfolded nearly four years ago.

According to court documents obtained by @tmz_tv, Patricia “Patty” Dawn Welch Day alleges that Chauvin and Ellen Jensen, a fellow Minneapolis police officer, used excessive force on her during an incident in January 2020. Patty claims that Chauvin and Jensen forcibly removed her from her car for no reason, causing her to be thrown to the ground. This resulted in a fractured tooth, injuries to her arm and shoulder, and other harm before she was placed in handcuffed.

Patty alleges that Chauvin proceeded to press his knee into her back while she was restrained, drawing a chilling comparison to the fatal method he would later use on George Floyd. She also claims that Jensen did not intervene when Chauvin used excessive force. Patty is also suing the Minneapolis Police Department because she claims there was bodycam footage of the incident but the police department ignored it.

Patty is seeking $9 million from both Chauvin and Jensen, as well as from the Minneapolis Police Department, for compensatory damages. She is also seeking an unspecified amount for punitive damages.

Chauvin is currently serving a prison sentence of over 22 years following his 2021 conviction on charges of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. In the same year, he also accepted a plea deal for a federal charge related to violating George Floyd’s civil rights, resulting in an additional 21-year prison sentence.
