Timberwolves Ownership War Rages On After Unproductive Mediation Session

The Minnesota Timberwolves just got done sweeping the Phoenix Suns out of the NBA Playoffs just a few days ago. But while there are a lot of roster questions now in the desert, there are still all sorts of ownership questions in the North Star State.

Minnesota Timberwolves ownership mediation fails as expected

And none of those questions were reportedly answered during a mediation session that was held on Wednesday between current majority owner, Glen Taylor, and challenging minority owner, Marc Lore (with Alex Rodriguez). Of course, if you’ve been paying attention , that’s not a surprise.

Next up is an arbitration hearing that is loosely scheduled for sometime this summer. What does that mean for the ownership battle? That an independent arbitrator will likely decide who was in breach of contract, between the Lore/A-Rod group and Glen Taylor.

Taylor accuses Lore of not making payments on time (we believe) and Lore claims Taylor ripped up an agreement that they were following to every dotted “i” and crossed “t”. In theory, whichever side wins the arbitration hearing would be awarded ownership of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

If Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez win, however, they’d still need approval from NBA owners and the league office, before getting the keys to Mayo Clinic Square and Target Center. That is far from a guarantee, at this point.
