Child’s quick thinking saves father in Milford

MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A child’s quick thinking potentially saved the life of her father after he was in distress on Morningside Beach Friday night, said the fire department.

Around 8:38 p.m., the Milford Fire Department arrived at Morningside Dr. after a child reported her father, who was windsurfing, needed help. The child also shared that her mother went out on a paddleboard in an attempt to locate her father.

Fire officials launched marine vessels and located the father almost one mile from the shore. While on the water, officials also located the mother who denied transportation and was able to make it back to shore on her own.

The father was evaluated at the beach and refused medical attention.
