MIAMI, Okla. (KOAM) -- Miami Public School District announces Keni Iverson as the interim superintendent.

According to the school district, Iverson previously served as the assistant superintendent, playing a pivotal role in implementing innovative programs and initiatives to enhance educational outcomes for all students.

"I'm excited to get back to the Wardog Way and do what's best for our students by working collaboratively with our admin and community so we can build a strong foundation for the next superintendent," said Keni Iverson.

Miami Public Schools says during her time as interim superintendent, Iverson aims for excellence, collaboration, and academic achievement within the schools.

"I'm extremely proud of the board and how we handled the process of appointing an interim. The collaboration, discussions, and passion are motivated by our desire to do what is best for our students and to provide support for our district employees," says Board of Education President, Chuck McKibben.

According to the Board of Education, the official search process will begin July 1, 2024.
