Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s 2026 three-star defensive lineman Alex Haskell has seen offers steadily roll in this spring between Wisconsin, Duke, Indiana and Boston College (not to mention Penn State , who offered him last summer), and Miami has now formally entered the picture.

Hurricanes co-defensive line coach Jason Taylor offered the 6-foot-4, 245-pound defensive lineman following a recruiting visit to Pennsylvania, and Haskell says he has interest in the Hurricanes after receiving his eighth FBS offer. West Virginia and Penn State both offered him last summer and he’s taken visits to Penn State, Ohio State and Duke this spring, although he wants to see Miami’s campus as well.

“(My) O-line coach said, ‘Coach Taylor wanted me to offer you,’ and I was kind of shocked because growing up Miami was like the big deal with the guys like Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, Sean Taylor going there,” Haskell said. “All my family talked about them so it was definitely a cool moment.”

Haskell’s offensive line coach told him Taylor used his length as an advantage as a player and sees remarkable length in Haskell as well. Haskell had not communicated with Miami’s staff prior to receiving the offer.

“I definitely need to see the campus first, but just being Miami football, there’s few schools that compete with the talent they have sent to the NFL,” Haskell said. “So (Miami), definitely it is up there. I don’t know much about the school actually, so getting down there to see it would be pretty good thing to do.”

Haskell is currently listed as the No. 457 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking and No. 44 defensive lineman. He is additionally the No. 42 defensive lineman in the On300 and No. 13 overall prospect in the state of Pennsylvania. He camped at Penn State last fall and attended the Nittany Lions’ White Out game against Iowa last fall.

He has currently visited Penn State more than any other Power Conference program.

    CaneSport’s Take

Miami has gotten off to a strong start recruiting the 2026 class and has continued to crank out offers this spring. The Hurricanes have already offered dozens of high school sophomores while on the recruiting trail the last several weeks, and we expect the number of new offers to continue to climb through the month of May before the start of official visits and prospect camps in June.
