This weekend is an exhilarating one for sports in South Florida. The Florida Panthers are inching their way to the Stanley Cup final, and there's another major event that's capturing everyone's attention. The streets of South Florida are teeming with celebrities like Tom Brady, Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat, and even the Kansas City Chiefs' star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The Miami Grand Prix, a pinnacle of Formula One racing, has arrived in town, and the stars are flocking to it. This race track is renowned for its challenging nature, making it a true test of skill for the drivers. Yet, it's also a platform where the glitz and glam of Miami shine through.

Just like two seasons prior and last year, Mahomes is at the race representing the back-to-back Super Bowl champions, of course, but also the team he partially owns. He and Travis Kelce are part owners of the F1 team Alpine BWT , a French team that is one of the "middle of the pack" teams in the league. Each of these teams has two racers, and there are 20 spots on the grid in total.

On Saturday, Mahomes was in full support of his team as they competed in a Sprint Race, a thrilling precursor to the main event on Sunday.

On Saturday, during the Sprint Race, Alpine did better than expected. They started the race in 13th and 16th place. One racer, Pierre Gasly, who started in 13th, finished in 9th, the best finish in any race for Alpine this season, and Estaban Ocon, the other racer, finished in 15th place, making up one place.

When it was time for qualifying, the three-round event that determines where the racers will start on the grid based on their fastest lap times, Alpine was due for its best qualifying session of the year.

Gasly finished in 12th place and will start Sunday's race there, and Ocon will finish in 13th place and will start the race there. This gives them a real opportunity to get some points for this race to make their way up the Constructors Championship.

So, no, Mahomes is not in Miami to watch the other team he owns, the Miami Dolphins; they finished playing football in January.
