Top-120 EDGE Jake Kreul reacts to Miami offer: ‘It was awesome’

Orlando (Fla.) Bishop Moore Catholic four-star 2026 EDGE Jake Kreul was ready to leave Miami’s facility when Hurricanes co-defensive line coach Jason Taylor suddenly stopped him.

Kreul, who was really just looking for the restroom before a drive home on an April 6 Miami visit, wasn’t totally sure why Taylor stopped him. Kreul went that visit thinking an offer was possible, but after going through the day without discussing it with the Hurricanes’ staff, the No. 104 overall prospect and No. 11 EDGE in the 2026 cycle assumed Miami wasn’t quite ready to pull the trigger.

So it came as a surprise when Taylor told him the Hurricanes were ready to offer just moments before he left.

The 6-foot-2.5, 225-pound pass rusher officially added Miami to an offer list that includes Oklahoma, UCF, Wisconsin, North Carolina and Nebraska and said he’s plenty interested in the Hurricanes. Kreul had not previously had contact with Miami’s staff but set up his visit through his trainer who also trained current Miami DE Malik Bryant. He said he’d previously had the most contact with UCF, Oklahoma and Duke but has now put Miami in his picture.

“That was an awesome experience, just getting the validation that I’m good enough to play under a 15-year NFL Hall-of-Famer,” Kreul said. “It meant a lot to me. It was also awesome to receive an offer from Miami because it is D-line U, D-end U, and they have the most beautiful campus I’ve ever seen. It was awesome.”

Kreul visited UCF and Duke this spring and has plans to visit Florida State and Oklahoma in the future. He also attended UCF’s spring game.

Miami’s staff has made clear it intends to own central Florida in recruiting, which includes areas like Orlando. The Hurricanes have already dished out more than 50 offers to 2026 prospects in what looks to be a talent-rich class for the state of Florida and intends on asserting its recruiting dominance in territories that previously belonged to the Gators.
