Woman struck by own truck and camper, killed
NASHWAUK—A 59-year-old Florida woman died Saturday after being struck by her own unmanned truck and camper trailer as it began to roll from its parking spot in Nashwauk, according to an Itasca County Sheriff’s Office news release. The incident was first reported as a fatal hit and run accident on Second Street near Larue Court around 10 a.m. in Nashwauk. Authorities and emergency personnel responded and performed life-saving measures. However, Hibbing Fire Department personnel later confirmed the victim from Silver Springs, Fla., was deceased on scene. Preliminary investigation determined the accident was not the result of a hit and run, but that the truck and camper trailer began to roll before striking the victim. The name of the deceased is being withheld until notification of family members.

ELY—Ely Rotary Club awarded a $1,000 grant to United Way of Northeastern Minnesota (UWNEMN) May 8 to support the organization’s local operation of the Imagination Library program. Highway 2 and 65 Swan River roundabout construction starts May 13
DULUTH, Minn.—The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be starting construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 65 in Swan River on Monday, May 13. Motorists can expect shoulder and possible lane closures on Highway 2. Highway 65 south of Highway 2 will close and a detour will be put in place.
