CHISHOLM—Members of the Northern Traxx ATV Club are hopeful that an early spring and warm weather will equate to a successful spring ride, bringing a boost to the local economy.

On Wednesday the Chisholm City Council granted a request for in kind services related to the ride set for Saturday, May 18.

The request, mirrored services the city provided in the past, blocking off a two block section of Lake Street from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the day of the ride, along with extra trash cans, and a police escort from Lake Street to Highway 73.

Northern Traxx Club President Larry Folstad, in the request, wrote the club canceled its 2023 ride because of the “wettest spring in our club’s history.”

Folstad went on to describe the successful 2022 ride, which he said “flooded Chisholm with 175 machines and over 300 people.”

“Besides filling the hotel and city campground, the bars, restaurants, gas stations and other had a great weekend with lots of town people spending time and money in Chisholm,” Folstad wrote.

The spring ride starts with a meet and greet from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Tom & Jerry’s in downtown Chisholm. From there, riders are being escorted to First Avenue Northwest to McNiven Road and then help with traffic as riders cross Highway 73 en route to the Chisholm ATV Trail. From there the ride goes to Riverside at Side Lake, before returning to Chisholm. There is no charge to participate in this event.
