A small playground by the Susquehanna River will be getting a big makeover thanks to newly announced state funding. Located just feet away from the Southern Tier Community Center in Endicott, the Riverview Park playground will be the site of major changes in the next few months. In a Sept. 22 release, New York State Gov. Kathy Hochul announced funding for playgrounds throughout the Southern Tier, including $410,000 for the Endicott playground. According to the Village of Endicott, the funding will help create a "modern, fully accessible and inclusive" playground for all children and families. How state funding will transform Endicott's riverside playground The funding comes from Hochul's New York Places for Learning, Activity, and Youth Socialization initiative, which is investing more than $67 million across nearly 90 playgrounds throughout the state. The funding will be supplemented by another $100,000 in local funding, taking the project's funding to more than $510,000. The existing playground, built in 2012, will be completely replaced as part of the project. Riverview Park is located at 1610 Riverview Drive in Endicott, and runs right alongside the Susquehanna River.
