Gibraltar School Groundbreaking Ceremony
Gibraltar Area School District will hold a groundbreaking at 5 pm Monday, May 20 to commemorate the beginning of referendum-approved construction projects that will include construction of a classroom wing beginning in 2024, followed in 2025 by additions to replace the original gym, classroom spaces, offices and main, front entry.

A beautiful public park with grass and shrubs and some public parking spaces should be added to Sturgeon Bay’s west waterfront. A hotel is not what is needed on this west waterfront site. The site needs to be preserved for public use and benefit by the city’s making it a park.
Maroon girls fourth, boys fifth at Kingsford GNC match
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Menominee golf team participated in the Kingsford Great Northern Conference match at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain. The Lady Maroons finished fourth amid a congested field with a team score of 215. Kingsford (201) edged Marquette (207) by six strokes to take first place, while Escanaba (210) finished five strokes ahead of Menominee for third place. Hwy 42 Resurfacing Continues
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (Wis-DOT) continues to push north giving state Highway 42 a facelift for 12.1 miles from Sturgeon Bay to Egg Harbor. The $6.76 million project is scheduled to be completed June 28 and includes various culvert removal and replacements, culvert transition excavation, concrete curb and gutter, asphalt milling and overlaying of the roadway, pavement marking, centerline and shoulder rumble strips, and other incidental work.
Woman charged in Marinette car-pedestrian crash pleads guilty
MARINETTE, WI— The driver in a Marinette accident that injured a young pedestrian has pleaded guilty in the case. Amber Renner, 36, was westbound on Carney Avenue last December when she heard something in the back seat, where her child was. She said she turned to look behind her, and when she turned back around, 17-year-old Bryce Steinfath was in the crosswalk. He was struck and suffered significant injuries.
