N.J. Catholic school can’t be saved: School dating back to 1959 will close after fundraising effort
A long-shot fundraising drive to save a Catholic elementary school in Passaic County that is closing after 65 years is being called off, according to the organizer. Parents were stunned in mid-May when church officials announced that Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Wayne, which opened in 1959, would shut down at the conclusion of the 2023-24 school year.

Still Time to Register for Immaculate Heart of Mary Summer Academy
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- There is still time to register for Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM)'s Summer Academy for children and youths in grades preschool four through eight. This formational program will provide young people with the opportunity to learn about their faith through lessons, art, music and experiences of prayer. The session will run from Sunday, June 23 until Tuesday, July 2 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, at 1571 Martine Ave., Scotch Plains. It will consist of two Sunday sessions (6/23 and 6/30) for parents and children running 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., and seven weekday sessions which will gather from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (6/24-28 and 7/1-2).
