In Business: ‘Flora & Floret’ in Park Rapids Has Busy Mother’s Day Weekend
Many around the world celebrated Mother’s Day over the weekend, which meant certain retailers got busy with shoppers coming in for last-minute gifts. In downtown Park Rapids, Flora & Floret, owned and operated by Tessa Kumpula, was busy with flower orders for the holiday. Kumpula started the business after seeing the building and instantly knowing what to do with it.

UCC Coffee House Concert supports Paws and Claws
A concert at the Community Church of Walker (UCC) will be held Sunday at 6 p.m. featuring Linda and Ken Barber. Complimentary coffee and treats will be provided! All donations from a free will offering will go to Paws and Claws in Hackensack. They are a no-kill, 501(c)3 nonprofit animal shelter and boarding facility. Their mission is to save animal lives, educate youth and complete families. Please come out and support Paws and Claws!

Somewhere down the line, whether it is a family member, friend, or coworker, you probably have met someone who has had to deal with cancer. A cancer diagnosis sends shockwaves through a family, and the goal of the new cancer center is to improve access to cancer care in central Minnesota.

The Running Wolves boys’ team easily won the Northland Conference Meet held Thursday at Lake of the Woods Schools. Walker-Hackensack-Akeley won 10 events and finished second in four to earn 205 points. Finishing second was Pine River-Backus with 112 points, Northome-Kelliher-Blackduck was third at 109 and Nevis fourth with 93 points.
