A Medford man is facing up to 10 years in prison for transporting people who came into the country illegally.

Federal prosecutors say Omar Mera-Marquez was convicted of driving from Long Island to the United States-Canadian border to pick up three men from Mexico in exchange for $1,500.

The incident happened in October and News 12 has been told he had an accomplice who pleaded guilty and was deported.

    Mera-Marquez also faces a $250,000 fine.

Mera-Marquez is set to be sentenced in September.
