The Cobb County Water System reported an estimated 320 gallon wastewater sewer overflow occurred on April 29.

The overflow, resulting from roots, occurred at 2645 Shaw Road NE in Marietta and discharged into the Morgan Lake Tributary.

The Water System was notified of the overflow on April 29 at 5:30 p.m. and the overflow was stopped on April 29 at 6:15 p.m.

Water System employees upon arrival observed a manhole spilling sewage with the lid secured. The escaping sewage left a 4-foot by 3-foot spill area around the manhole and a 2-foot by 2-foot trail that entered the tributary. After using a jet machine to unstop the line, the crew spread lime on the affected area. During their time on-site, the crew did not observe any fish kills.

For more information, call the Cobb County Water System’s Maintenance Division at 770-419-6351.
