Widespread Frost or Freeze Conditions Expected Across WNY
It will get cold enough Saturday night to support a widespread frost or freeze away from the immediate lake shores in Western New York, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo. Low temperatures are expected to hit the low to mid 30s along the lake plains, while the valleys of the Southern Tier could see the mercury bottom out in the mid to upper 20s. No advisories or warnings have been issued for the western Southern Tier because the growing season has ended, but residents who have cold-sensitive plants that they wish to keep a little longer should be protected or brought inside if possible.

End of the growing season possible for many tonight as temps fall
Which areas are under the National Weather Service's Freeze Warning?. How does cold air pooling affect valley temperatures tonight?. Strong high pressure building in the wake of a strong cold front that passed through the area on Friday will maintain clear skies through the overnight hours. The air mass that is in place is extremely dry, with dew points throughout Saturday afternoon averaging around 30 degrees - and have even dropped into the mid 20s as of this writing - which is considered the target range for overnight lows on clear, calm nights. Such a setup is what we expect tonight.
