ROME, N.Y. – A Rome mother is facing charges after three toddlers were found outside alone last week. According to Rome police, an officer went to the 200 block of Lynch Street on Friday, March 24, around 10 a.m. after receiving an anonymous tip about children out in the street unattended.
Police arrest Utica man after dispute
UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Police arrested a Utica man after he threatened a man with a gun and broke several possessions within a home. Police arrived to the 900 block of Churchill Avenue in Utica on Monday, March 27 after a call of an argument between two people. During the argument, 40-year-old Oscar Boykin of Utica threatened the other person with a handgun, then proceeded to break items inside the home. The resident of the house called 911 and Boykin fled.
Man with Loaded Glock 45 9mm Handgun Arrested in Westmoreland
New York State Police arrested a man in Westmoreland on Monday following a speeding stop on the New York State Thruway. Police say, 21-year-old Jose A. Ayala-Rivera of Derby, Kansas was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, a C Felony. Upon stopping Ayala-Rivera on a speeding violation, Troopers say they discovered he was in possession of a loaded Glock 45 9mm handgun. The Troop D – SP Marcy BCI unit assisted Troop T with the investigation. Ayala-Rivera is being held at the Oneida County Jail pending arraignment.
Palmieri announces new design for Chancellor Park
UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri announced the final design for Chancellor Park on Monday, March 27. The park, located on Elizabeth Street, will feature a combination fountain and splash pad that will serve as the centerpiece of the park. The park will also feature pickleball and bocce courts, as well as a rain garden running alongside Bleecker Street. Future plans for the park include a sensory garden and a play area for children on the corner of Kent and Elizabeth Street.

State police make gun arrest during traffic stop on Thruway in Westmoreland
WESTMORELAND, N.Y. – A Kansas man was arrested Sunday night following a traffic stop on the Thruway in Westmoreland. New York State Police say 21-year-old Jose Ayala-Rivera was stopped around 8:20 p.m. for speeding near exit 32. At that time, Ayala-Rivera allegedly had a Glock 45 9mm handgun on him.

Utica Hotel Robbery Suspect Apprehended
UTICA, NY – On Wednesday, a robbery occurred at the Double Tree by Hilton on Lafayette St in Utica. The suspect, later identified as John Terry, 55, of Utica, threatened the front desk clerk with a knife and demanded money. The clerk handed over cash from his own pocket to appease the suspect, who then attempted to open the hotel’s safe but failed. After obtaining surveillance footage, the Mohawk Valley Crime Analysis Center distributed photographs of the suspect to local law enforcement agencies. Rome Woman in Hot Water Over $30k in Stolen Equipment
Rome Police say a woman is behind bars for allegedly stealing equipment worth approximately $30,000. Cops say they were called to Bouck Street in Rome for a reported larceny earlier this week. The victim said his surveying equipment had just been stolen, and had seen the equipment being placed into a vehicle by a white female. Police were able to locate the vehicle and the stolen equipment a short time later, and arrested 54-year-old Tracy Bean.
