A Marble Falls High School athlete is on track towards competing with the best in the region.

Junior Tyler Hamblin is on his way to capturing the wild card of the 3,200 meters at the Class 4A Region III championships April 19 thanks to clocking 9 minutes and 28.04 seconds for a new personal best.

He has the fastest time among the four bronze medalists from the regional meets, which gives him the ninth spot at the Class 4A state meet.

The meet will be conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at Mike Myers Stadium on the University at Texas in Austin campus.
