CLARKSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A West Virginia fugitive has been captured in Mannington, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

The U.S. Marshals Service says that Mannington resident, Jason Lee Barr, aged 50, was apprehended on Wednesday around 3:00 p.m. at a residence situated on Highland Street in Mannington.

Barr was the subject of a warrant issued by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, alleging his possession of a concealed firearm despite being prohibited from doing so.

The arrest was executed by the U.S. Marshals Service Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, with collaborative efforts from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the West Virginia State Police.

The charges against Barr stem from an incident on March 8, 2023, near Saltwell Road on Interstate 79, where Barr and another individual were allegedly found in unlawful possession of firearms during a routine traffic stop.

This encounter resulted in the recovery of two firearms and methamphetamine from their vehicle. Subsequent to laboratory confirmations, charges were officially filed against both individuals on October 2, 2023.

The U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force initiated efforts to locate Barr upon receiving a tip about his whereabouts. Coordinated efforts involving the Mannington Police Department led to the positive identification of Barr’s location at the aforementioned residence.

During the arrest, Barr attempted to conceal himself under a camping trailer on the property but was swiftly located and apprehended without further incident.

Barr is currently at North Central Regional Jail.
